When is the Royal Wedding?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry on May 19th 2018 in the town of Windsor near London, England. Unlike the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the 2018 Royal Wedding will not be a public bank holiday. However, it’s not all bad news. the pubs will be open until 1am on the Saturday night/ Sunday morning to allow two extra hours of “celebration” up and down the land.
Will it be on TV?
Due to the high profile of the wedding it is expected to be shown on TV networks around the world. A single pool camera will capture the nuptials and so most UK networks will be footage of the big day.
A global 3-billion-strong expected viewing audience for Saturday’s wedding of Prince Harry to the former American actress, Meghan Markle, ought to settle any doubts about the British monarchy’s, and specifically, the Queen’s, staggering marketing power.
Harry’s own proven popular touch, a legacy of his mother, and his unashamedly romantic “reaching down” (in British terms) for his bride into the commoner pools, and among Americans no less, have served only to increase this weekend’s broadcast mega-wattage. Something north of 20 million are expected to watch in the United States alone, and we’re just one former colony.
Dimoldenberg’s documentary with a comedic twist has the aim of bagging an invite to Windsor on Saturday, May 19, but the exploration of the frenzy surrounding the wedding over in the United States leads Dimoldenberg to ask: What does America think of the Royal wedding?
In the hour-long programme, Amelia Dimoldenberg travels across the Atlantic to Ms Markle’s home country to try and get her name on the guest list for the big day.
